The Assorted Firearms voluntary surrendered by the NPA supporters in San Isidro town in Leyte Province to the operating troops of 19th Infantry Battalion, 8ID, Philippine Army.

LTC BUMILTAC said that the massive defection of the NPA supporters and sympathizers in the 3rd Congressional District, considered as the last bastion of NLF, is a result of the intensive internal security operations backed by a massive peace and development advocacy Campaign of the unit. The people were made aware of the CPP/NPA /NDF methodology of arousing, organizing, and mobilizing the poor farmers with the end in view of “creating rift between the farmers and land owners”, and not for the good of the farmers. This is part of the NPA’s effort to attain its ultimate objective to seize political power and establish a Communist Government.

LTC BUMILTAC added that some NPA full timers went on lie low and subsequently surrendered due to the aggressive pressure posed by the operating troops, neutralization of TOP NPA LEADERS, and diminishing mass base support .

LTC BUMILTAC emphasized that this latest operational success against the CTs is indicative of the effectiveness of the peoples’ support in the campaign against the insurgents. “We are very optimistic that the NLF will be dismantled by the end of this year.

LTC BUMILTAC again warns the remaining NPA leaders and members to lay down their arms, and return to the folds of law. This is what we all need to pave the way for our government agencies to deliver the basic services to the poor farmers, and bring in sustainable development and livelihood projects to the remote barangays.
